Musical Family Tree

The Indiana Music Archive and Online Community

So I am hearing that this is on FRIDAY, JUNE 20th. I got confused and thought it was on Saturday, but NO. Can someone confirm this for me again?

I am at a music festival in Louisville that weekend and was only planning on visiting B-ton earlier in the week, but HOW CAN I MISS THIS?!?! That's right, I can't. So I'm driving back AGAIN just to be there for one night, blowing off a buncha psychedelic bands at Terrastock, most of which I can totally live without. Just don't talk to me about the Helena Espvall/Masai Batoh set, OK?. I wish this Ruins gig had been on Saturday but there ya go.

My Questions:

1. Where is the show and who else is playing?
3. Who else besides some of the Matthew clan and I are coming from out of town?
2. Do people want to get together for dinner before the show? I plan on getting back into town around 6 PM.
3. Can somebody put my girlfriend and I up for the night? We come prepared with pads and sleeping bags, really we just need a floor or a back yard.

that's four Walking Ruins plus one roadie. geez everyone forgets the roadie! Count me in for all of it too!

I would consider a roadie a very significant other.

Hey, maybe we can arrange for another flood and float a party pontoon down Kirkwood!

Add Dave D'Eath.

I totally think you should have pizza in the park!

Me too. At the moment, it's covered with mud (as is much of that stretch of Kirkwood), but I think the rain this weekend will take care of that. Can you imagine the sight of 50 odd old school Bloomingtonians converging of the Park with tons of pizza? Rawr!

Molly, I really wish you could come to this.

I want to come too! I'm workign on it. I've *almost* got a babysitter scraped together. He just has to check with his probation officer first.

KIDDING!

I'm very eager to stroll around downtown, though it could result in a slight depression . . .
Also, Holly, you seem the person to ask about this . . . my oldest daughter is 13 and really getting into vintage stuff and I SO want to take her vintage shopping (mother-daughter bonding thing) while we're in town. Are there still some good vintage places left . . . Material Plane, maybe?

Cactus Flower on Kirkwood! At least it was still there a couple of years ago when we were visiting.

So cool! I'll send Jesse a copy in Iraq! When we were first together, he remembers hearing you guys on the radio while heading home up to Minneapolis . . .

Cool, thanks Molly!

Cactus Flower is still there, although they are less vintage and more hipster-oriented "faux vintage" things now. Still, some very cool stuff in there. Material Plane is now on Fourth Street in the building that houses the little hobby shop catacorner to Bullwinkle's. It's on the Fourth Street side of the building, next to the drive for the bank machine. There's Material Plane and Amused Clothing right together. Vintage Wearhouse is still on Fourth and Grant, but they tore down the old building and built a huge orange house with V.W. on the bottom and apartments on top. I don't know how the selection is there. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know!

so, um, about this flooding...

Anybody know what kind of shape the road from Louisville is in? I know it's on interstate for a bit near Kentucky, and then I think you switch to 37? We will be trying to drive it on the 17th, which barring further rain seems like enough time to dry out.

I noticed this morning that my band's MFT page has reached 10,000 requests. This is unbelievable to me. I just wanted to thank everyone who decided to check out my music. I hope you have enjoyed some of it.Thanks again,Chris.

I know nothing about this woman's music but the writer isn't doing her any favors by starting off the article with "There are two types of people in this world: the screamers and the flappers. When a person jumps off a cliff, they can either scream…
