I saw the Dead Milkmen there and the Lemonheads-also the Cynics and of course all the great Bloomington Bands.

Yeah, I sure miss Second Story. My favorite show there was the Gizmos, followed closely by the Feelies.

Is there a Second Story show list/archive? I'd love to peruse it.

Cynics were a great show. To this day I can't remember if I saw the Feelies or not even though I love them to death (especially Good Earth) due to the Old Milwaukee fog. Also Universal Congress Of, Slint, Meat Puppets, Fetchin' Bones Anybody? Nice Strong Arm? Royal Crescent Mob? And can't forget the mighty Rosebloods. Somebody please compile an archive of shows, that would be awesome.

i saw brown betty open for the (typically alt-country) blue mountain in '92 or '93 at second story. blue mountain decided to play a punk rock set which included "brown betty," a different take on ram jam's "black betty." weirdly, they were one of the tightest, loudest rock acts i have ever seen.

I'm die-hard when it comes to GBV, so I guess I'd say the GBV Bee Thousand show is pretty high on my list as well. Other than that, I remember the Medicine show (Sixteen Deluxe opened) being the absolute loudest show I'd ever seen in Bloomington. Or anywhere, for that matter. I didn't bring earplugs and had to spend half of the show outside on the steps.
