Joe Christian is the name of a person I know. I'm helping him out here at Musical Family Tree. As "Tom Youngjohn" I attended Collins LLC from 1984 to 1986 or so. Nice place. I went from almost flunking out of school my first semester to getting "A"s. I credit Collins and the people I met there. I still have an old, wooden crab trap I bought my first semester their. I keep my copying machine on it.

My best from from childhood, Kate Comiskey, lived at Collins her freshman year and then in a variety houses in Bloomington afterwards. Didn't go to IU, but spent plenty of time there. Good people, good shows, good weed. Great memories.

Collins Smith 007 was my room in 93-94. It was a half floor of the smallest building with TV, laundry, computer lab, and our RA was on the floor above - college utopia at the time.

I wonder where Dave Todd is? Last I remember him getting married and going to Japan.

Many thanks to Carl Broemel for inviting Populous to play in the Coffee house before we started college. With out seeing Collins I wouldn't have known where to live.

Wasn't there a show there around Halloween where if you dressed up you got in without a cover? (Or was that a different hallucination?) Sarah Bortt and I feigned to be dressed as a 20's model (because of her rockin' flapper dress she was donning over her jeans) and her photographer (since I happened to be carrying my old Brownie that day with the large flash attachment). Great show from what I remember . . . if only I could remember who was playing . . .

Hmmm..Collins. There were two satellite buildings, right? Green and Brown. I lived in a solo room in Green (I think)..to follow up on both April and Mark's comments...I did indeed fall in love across the cafeteria table at Collins..with Mindy, who was Mark's gf, but that's another story. There were a bunch of us that met and slogged through the first year at Collins; ATN became my lifelong friend (he's in Seattle...just the same)...wonder where the others are?

Yeah, I noticed that the other day and had to make a trip into town just to snag it.

My first memories of Collins, the place where my gf, Mindy lived. I'd never heard a big porch referred to as a "veranda", but that's what it was, the veranda where everyone hung out, sunned, did homework or socialized. I had a room in a house on 7th St., right behind the Bluebird. But soon moved, "unofficially" into Mindy's room, it was the bldg. on the right as you faced the complex. Mindy was a vegetarian and introduced me to Dannon yogurt, which was always offered as the meal replacement if you didn't want mystery meat.
My band, The Flint'tones (essentially a Ramones cover band), played out there on the veranda one sunny day and had rolicking good time, I'm pretty sure Leath(X-Hostages) even came up and honored us with some vocals that day.
more Collins stories next time.

When I lived in Collins, the only things I Learned in the "Living Learning Center" were how to get the munchies and shoplift from the store in the basement, and that you should have a liner under your waterbed, if youre planning on sneaking one in, where theyre not allowed in the first place.

This is Mars Needs Women's, first band name. We got our flyers torn down Kirkwood by some Jaycee guy I remember, wearing his little red vest.

I'm all for MFT and the artists both making some money whether it's NP or not. I'm glad there is another way of getting us out there. If I would have sold an album in the 80s, I remember most little labels and artists would be happy to sell their t…

PJ- I thought of that too! I could use a new Ping hat. We aren't too far down the road of the NP thing to turn back. But John is right, if we can find a way to funnel money to artists then I'm all about having MFT make some of that transaction. It…

I tried to watch 100 Ways but I could feel my life force draining. Haven't the Japanese made some horror films about this video?
