Honneycombs play Big Star's "Nightime"

We recorded this version of Alex Chilton's Big Star era song Nightime last month on my front porch... it seems like the best way we could pay tribute to Alex is by saying "we're still out here singing your songs."RIP Alex - thanks for everything...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qaa9NC_8WqESee More

Howard Wolfson + Arson Garden + MFT = LUV

OK, this is great... my wife got a Google Alert this morning for Arson Garden - and it turned out to be a "Sunday Morning Flashback" post about the band by none other than Hillary Clinton's Campaign Communications Director (now Fox News guy) Howard Wolfson on his Gotham Acme blog!

Howard digs the Hoosier rock - who knew?

And he includes a link to Musical Family Tree - which he calls a "wonderful site." A nice plug for your press kit, Jeb and PJ!

Here's his… Continue

THANKS FOR A GREAT TOUR, EVERYONE!

On behalf of April, Laurie, Michael and myself... I just wanted to thank everyone for supporting us so well during our midwestern tour earlier this month. We had a fantastic time... we hope you did too. I posted some photos from our Cincinnati and Chicago gigs on my page here.... and a couple live performance videos from the tour on my myspace page:

THANKS, BLOOMINGTON! HELLO INDIANAPOLIS!

We had a fantastic time at our Bear's Place gig last night - thanks so much to everyone who came out and laid the Bloomington love on us. We're always amazed and humbled by the good will generated toward us and our music in our old hometown. You are rock champions, fellow citizens of Bloomington.

We are excited to play Indianapolis tonight! We hope to see you Indianapolins at the Indy Hostel! We have an earlier start time than we originally thought - 7pm. And our great friend PJ… Continue

APRIL, JAMES COMBS (EX-ARSON GARDEN) TOUR STARTS TODAY!

Hey everyone,

April and I are playing the first show of our Midwestern tour tonight in Cincinnati at the Southgate House - and there's been an exciting development: Arson Garden's guitarist Michael Mann will be joining us tonight and at our Bloomington show tomorrow night. And of course Laurie Burnham will be joining us on harmony vocals for all of our dates. Rehearsals are sounding great... we're surprised at how quickly things have come together. We're good little studiers, I… Continue

too bad for the...that's how i reconnected to you actually (clark - is james really in LA? i just heard a song on my webcast here in iowa city?)...
anyway, i just sent in my annual donation (f* economic downturns) ..i hope you get some of it somehow...

What great fun! That will go down as one of my favorite house parties of all time. My people loved you guys, so you've got a few more fans for your next time through Chicago. It was lovely to see your face and catch up after so long. I'm overdue for my virgin voyage to L.A. and will need to just book a flight one of these days.
Besos,
Wyatt

What a blast that was and your set sounded great as well. I'll be really interested to see if the three of you can put together an albums worth of material, I know I would buy it.

Beautiful night for music, great experience. A real highlight for my year.

We were playing full band, and the "sound guy" was just a bar patron that the promoter suckered into holding himself out as competent. He confessed he'd never run sound before. Not a good time.

Best to you and yours too; things are awesome here.

Hi James - I'm really sorry I missed out on the shows here in Indiana. I had good intentions and did really want to come. I am still fighting depression getting past my wife's death last May and I find myself using it as an excuse to not leave the house. All in good time I guess and I am working on all sorts of distractions but they don't work well when I
don't have a backup person insisting I do something. I do
feel maybe a bit pathetic telling you this but your music has
meant a lot to me and still continues to. I listened to your
first 2 solo discs a lot while my wife was in the hospital. I
always felt the connections with your music. I hope the shows went well and hopefully someone taped them for me
to enjoy later. Keep writing them and I'll keep listening.
Take care and I will do my best to catch up with you next
time. Jon

James: jeepers-shit, I could have soaked in an entire evening. Excellent songwriting and energetic performing as always, from both you and April (& Michael as well - a pleasant surprise!). And April's tunes... what a great songwriter she's become! Yow. My brain is loaded with new joyous memories. It was wonderful seeing & hearing the latest & greatest from you both! And your back-up singer? Hot. Patti would have totally approved. Have a great, safe, excellent midwest tour; hugs all around!!

It was nice to see your face as well. I'm finishing up a Ph.D. at Stanford in Religion while working a full-time gig at the Jewish Community Center in San Francisco. I haven't made to L.A. since my son was born, but I did live there 1999-2000. It's a great place. Let me know if you head up here. I would love to reconnect and help you any way that I can.
