"Thanks Jon for the excellent review. I'm extremely happy with the way this EP turned out. From the cover to the actual mastered sound of the 45 RPM pressing, I could not be more satisfied. It's amazing that it took me 30 plus years to…"
Nice overview of the band. I would be happy to talk to you more about the Rosebloods. I'm glad you get the band. We were some serious stuff in the day but, like most of my other projects, slowly faded into obscurity. Our real claim…"
"Hi Mike, cool article. I must have missed it when it first came out. I was just looking at a copy of ER magazine earlier today. Found it out in my garage with a bunch of old collages. Salad days, yummmm..."
The tape was labeled "2nd & Fess" and since I'm seen in the audience, I wasn't taping it. One way to tell is whether that pole looks like the one in the House of Ruins. If it was the 2nd & Fess gig, I think that was the night that I actually kissed a girl right there in the basement, which was a great achievement for me.
I'm making my next attempt to come to Bgtn. February, somewhere in the week of the 20th. I just successfully copied my first VHS tape to DVD. It's the Ruins at a 2nd & Fess Party. The image quality is bad but the show is GREAT! It's classic - it should be on Youtube. Anyway, I think we should copy all the tapes. I'll keep looking.
Well, I just got the deck and it played an old Go Mango video that my other deck couldn't. I'm about to upload it to YouTube. So... I think this is the way to go. If I was driving, I'd bring the deck to Bloomington next week. If the deck keeps working like this with other videos, maybe you or Barge should get one - it was just $80, which seems worth it if it really can copy videos so easily to DVD. I've got mine hooked up directly to my computer right now, so I'm skipping the DVD step.
I just placed an order for a Magnavox VCR/DVD deck. It was just $80 refurbished, but all the customer reviews said it was great & the videos they copied looked great, so I'm hopeful. Too bad I got angry at my old VCR a while back when it ate a tape & I destroyed it.
I'll be in Bloomington the week after Christmas. I can bring what Ruins tapes I have... Can you digitize them? Otherwise, I'm looking for a deck that can play them better than the one I have. I sent inquiries to JVC and Panasonic.
I think I gave JB a box of Walking Ruins VHS tapes about 2 years ago. I know I still have lots of Ruins on various tapes, but I'm pretty sure that John asked me for the videos and I gave all of them that I found at the time to him.
the barn house: it burned down a good while ago. I think we talked about it in one of the Hoagy group threads (which you are fairly likely to really enjoy, btw, come on over and join in with some Lawrenceburg tales):
