Oh...Tried watching that Beefheart clip below. Sorry, did not like. :(

Bill, I totally agree with your statement of Beefheart being "organic". That is an important distinction. Still, many times the result is the same for me, and I guess that's what it always comes down to: taste. I should also say, if I didn't before,…

That was a good read. Thanks for posting, otherwise I'd not have seen it. Have to point this out, though: "The punk subculture, having loudly dispensed with most hippie artifacts, retained the word “pig” to describe police, and in the early hardcore…

What is the down-side of having more members, in reality? I'm just guessing, but I'd bet that 10% of the users account for 90% of the activity. Do inactive members suck up any bandwidth?

Another great, thoughtful post, Bill. I agree with most of what you say. If in using the term "marketplace" we are talking about all the usual mainstream outlets, then I have some context, but I would argue that, increasingly, no matter how small bu…

I wonder what it will be like in the future, when I am dead and gone and my kids are old men, they will be able to trace their entire lives by an online existence. Weird, huh? I like this phrase: The ever growing ever pervasive records that the In…

Frankie Come Back

So, what happened here? Did Frankie Camaro crash and burn? Frankie, if you're reading this, don't throw the baby out with the bath water, man...There are people that care about what you're doing and want to share thoughts and ideas with you. It seems like you've been struggling with some issues that you were addressing here and I think it's healthy to put yourself out there. I can see how sometimes it seems like the world is holding you back, but if you are persistent and visualize what you desi… Continue

Hey, I'm Looking For Info on the Band "Orange Grace".

Anyone remember them?

My completely foggy memory involves what I think was an Anderson band in the early to mid 70's (hence the name!) that was one of the few local bands that did original material. I seem to remember them making an appearance on the Indianapolis based 4-H sponsored show "Clover Power (hence the name!) hosted by none other than a young David Letterman.

Marvin, did you ever hear of or see this band?

Hmmmmmmmmm?

Dave Jr., do you remember this ba… Continue

Oh, now listen you - just stop it.
God forbid you and Dave ever stop in my town.
I'd have to put you guys up, buy all the beer, stay up all night telling stories, and make you my kids godparents, and my wife would probably have us all hauled away to the pokey.

Ha ha, great story.
Too bad about not knowing about that tape - contact Marta ASAP & ask her what they did with the bulk of the tapes, Goodwill, Salvation Army, dumpster or if they kept them.
If she kept them then I will volunteer to comb thru them and see if I can find it.

I'm all for MFT and the artists both making some money whether it's NP or not. I'm glad there is another way of getting us out there. If I would have sold an album in the 80s, I remember most little labels and artists would be happy to sell their t…

PJ- I thought of that too! I could use a new Ping hat. We aren't too far down the road of the NP thing to turn back. But John is right, if we can find a way to funnel money to artists then I'm all about having MFT make some of that transaction. It…
