Part Five: My career as an engineer, Marvin P, Strippers and Pere Ubu (1985)

I actually wrote this a few weeks ago.. pressed send and got some sort of error. My first instinct today is to write the whole thing in MS-Word and then copy/paste it over here....I had spent my senior year trying to figure out what I was going to do with the rest of my life... well.. maybe that's not true.. maybe I just didn't care. I really can't remember what I was thinking. I took a bunch of college level courses during my last year at Carmel. Scored really high on my SATs.. and began…See More

About Me
Born in Indianapolis. Have lived in Jacksonville (FL), New York City, Berkeley, Huntington Beach, and currently Anaheim, with a return trip to Indy in between almost every location.
What bands are you or have you been in?
These are in some chronological order, the best that I can remember. Some of the years are probably off by one or two. Life seems to blaze by in a big haze sometimes. I played drums in all but Poison Center (bass). All were Indiana based except for PigPen who were based in New York, even though we were all from Indiana.

Poison Center (1982 - 1983)
The Slammies (1988 - 1991, 2007 - Present)
Pig Pen (1991 - 1993)
Edgar Strange (1993 - 1994)
The Tea Bags (1994)
Dutch 45 (1994 - 1998)
SuperFatFlyBoy (1996)
Drunko (2001 - 2004, 2006 - 2007)
The Mighty John Waynes (2001 - 2002)
The Jabs (2002) [fill-in while Andy Fark recovered from a broken collar bone]
The Retreads (2002 - 2004)
Ass Cobra (2001 - ???)
Hot Damn! (2002 - 2008)
PooP (2009 - )

Part Six: Where was I?

You know... It's not really that important... In the months that have past since my last entry, I've realized (insert profound observation here)...

If I'm not mistaken, I had just quit my job as a computer programmer to go on tour when Part Five ended... The next few weeks were a blur that took me to a handful of legendary clubs for the first time. The Channel and The Rat in Boston.. CBGB's.. and there were a few basement parties and an equal number of canceled gigs... I had to call… Continue

Memorial

I've really had a hard time putting this into words. As I've grown older, the frequency in which I see my childhood friends has become significantly less. I have lived back in Indianapolis for 7 years now and had gone the first 6-1/2 of those without seeing Sean, aside from random bumping intos. I do feel fortunate that we were able to hang out a few times within the last few months. Once, he came to see The Slammies play at The Mel, and again at The Zero Boys show at Radio Radio... He also… Continue

I just heard about Steve's death yesterday, from Joanie, a friend of his from here in Boston. What a sad, tragic ending to a good guy's life. Who can say what rhyme or reason there is behind our eventual end? But, one thing's for sure, it doesn't seem right in any way to go out like that. Really sad. My conolences to all his friends and family. R.I.P. Steve.
