Copy and paste review of "Red Snerts" from New York Rocker 1981 for P.J. and link to ebay auction!

http://tinyurl.com/cvbmxz "I even figured out this tiny url"

So which would you rather be: unknown or "immortalized" by Breaking Away? If the 16 bands on the Red Snerts (anagram: Rent Dress, get it?) sometimes seem a little too foot-shufflin' unassuming - and they do - it's at least not hard to figure why. The Gizmos sing "The Midwest Can Be Allright" (but not too often, I guess, or they wouldn't've moved to NJ). The liner notes solicit correspondence with the query: "Like those bands?… Continue

I can think of some good drummers for this gig!

Smashing Pumpkins seeking drummer

Maybe it's an April Fool's joke - but the way Billy Corgan acts sometimes it seems plausible to me.

Which MFT drummers would you love to see get that gig? It might be one you love, or even one you hate. I know I would hate a gig like that except for payday. All this watching Pat Spurgeon on D Tour makes me think he would be really good for… Continue

Must have something to do with my work computer, but I can never get hyperlinks to show up on MFT. Anyway, here is a URL for an article I posted today on the Know the Music Biz blog on Creative Commons licensing: http://tinyurl.com/cmdyew

Everything, Now! -- the in sound from way out

“ ‘Spatially Severed’ is an outer space opera about beings that create each other and also cease to exist when they stop believing in one another,” vocalist-guitarist Jon Rogers says of the current Everything, Now! album. “It’s also about rock ‘n’ roll transmissions that have been sent into outer space, reflecting off of human brains and coming back in a new form.”

The music is melodic, fun and made for sing-alongs -- not unlike what's heard on "Nuggets," the celebrated compilation… Continue

Please Don't Post Events as Blogs

I know that a Blog gets more exposure on the home page than an Event but I want to encourage everyone to save Blogs for actual commentary and thoughts, etc. If you are having a festival or have a series of events I'm fine with you using the Blog area for that kind of announcement. But in the future I will begin deleting Blogs that are simply event postings.

Thank you! Jeb

Armed Forces In America (The Marketing of Elvis Costello)

Armed Forces In America (The Marketing of Elvis Costello)

On March 11 1979, Elvis Costello and the Attractions played the IU Auditorium in Bloomington Indiana, on March 14 in Columbus Ohio, he hit the wall.

The part I remember the most was they had these green lights that shot horizontally across the stage instead of shining down on the band. Elvis ordered the audience to stand up, bass player Bruce Thomas executed an amazing cross-legged drop to the stage. PLOP! I… Continue
