Lowercase m - Anthology

is now up on MFT.

Lowercase m performed and recorded around Indianapolis throughout the mid 1990s. Their harmonious vocal sound and acoustic instrumentation delighted singer/songwriter fans throughout the area. Their folksy style augmented the alternative cover songs they interpreted, as well as their own catchy originals. They often performed at The Outback, The Patio, and Cafe Angst, and were monthly regulars at the Village Idiot, as well as performing live on local radio several… Continue

In Memory of Scarcity

Since my work directly involves delivery/distribution of music to listeners, I've given a great deal of thought over the past several years to the way things have changed and are continuing to change. We're quickly moving towards a new reality where all existing recorded music is available to everyone all the time, which has been more or less inevitable since the distribution of music via the Internet became possible. There are many issues that need to be resolved, such as compulsory licensing… Continue

Pretend to hang out & listen to Eric!

Ever wish you could sit around with Eric Spears, smoking pot & listening to him pontificate about all sorts of crazy things? Now you can! (minus the pot and the sitting around with him) by visiting his blog: www.daisybrain.wordpress.com

Band of the Week-Honneycombs

Honneycombs arive rising out of the ashes of 90s alt-rock stalwarts (and John Peel favorites) Arson Garden. As sweet sounding as their

names suggest, Honneycombs craft a crisply produced brand of

folk-rock. Their sound is reminiscient of late 60s british psyche-folk

with a touch of 70s Mac-ian west coast soft rock.

Siblings James and April Combs started Arson Garden in Bloomington in

the the late 80s. After a very… Continue

Broad Ripple Music Fest review

The Broad Ripple Music Fest started early in a couple of the all-age joints and at least one bar. The air outside was perfect prototypical fall weather in Indiana which was conducive to taking the "shoe leather express" from one venue to another, if you had the time to ride it for a while. The places were fairly spread out. Acoustic folkster, Caleb McCoach got things started at Luna at noon, located a few blocks south of the main strip, while Spirit Spine treated customers to an ambient… Continue

Groovies Reunion.... now we've gone and done it.

The Mystic Groovies and the folks who came to hear us play have always provided me some of the best experiences of my life and tons of stories of fun and mayhem. Alan, Greg and Jon remain my closest friends and to get a chance to play with them as The Mystic Groovies a couple of more times is a real treat.

About a month ago I got a short email from Matt from the Love Cowboys saying that Ozzie's in Oxford was closing it's doors. Ozzie's asked the Cowboys to play, and the Cowboys asked… Continue

Band Of The Week: The Founders

The Founders are an Indianapolis/Bloomington based trio who create a

beautiful racket steeped in 60s psych and modern lo-fi. Fronted by

multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Nick Keiper, The Founders are a

no nonsense rock band in the classic sense of the term.

Conceived in 2007, the band recorded their debut album, "Exile In

Charon", in their drummer's living room. The cheap microphone

aesthetic helps to bring about an surprisingly live sounding… Continue

Band Of The Week: Johnny Socko

Over the course of 14 years, Bloomington genre-benders Johnny Socko

released 4 albums and played over 1000 shows. Their mix of party-rock,

ska and funk garnered them a large live following over the years.

Perfectly situated for the the rise of ska to pop prominence in the

mid-90s, Johnny Socko released their debut album, Bovaquarium, on Bim

Skala Bim's BiB label in 1994. Big pop hooks, air-tight performances

and crisp production marked the Oh, I Do Hope it's… Continue

Anybody having trouble posting content on this site?

I've received a few bug reports and I personally can't post new blogs or use the Quick Add features in Safari. I haven't done a complete bug test but I'm wondering if anyone else is having these issues and what browser and operating system they are using. I will compile this feedback and present to Ning who powers the community portion of MFT.

Thanks! Jeb
