I was digging around the basement (no bodies found) when I found some cassettes my friend Mitch Straeffer gave me years ago>
The SuadeTones - UltraSuade (my fav)
MCRB - Your Lucky Number is _.
Latent Chaos - Rarities.
Band-O-Fun - The Extended Family.
I also have a Shindigs(1991) and a Ya Ya's (1987)tape from Worst Layflat..
I've browsed this site for over a year... And now I finally join. :)
What do you guys think about the new Margot album?
I was pretty disappointed...Some of the songs were, seriously, amazing... But what they did to Ocean, Broadripple, As Tall as Cliffs, and other songs they'd released demos for, really turned my opinion of them around.
Don't get me wrong - I still find them amazing. They have a great ability to play extremely loud music while keeping it organized, in… Continue
You know... It's not really that important... In the months that have past since my last entry, I've realized (insert profound observation here)...
If I'm not mistaken, I had just quit my job as a computer programmer to go on tour when Part Five ended... The next few weeks were a blur that took me to a handful of legendary clubs for the first time. The Channel and The Rat in Boston.. CBGB's.. and there were a few basement parties and an equal number of canceled gigs... I had to call… Continue

Set your recorders ye old folks of MFT! Margot will be playing on Conan tonight. Chris Fry, the drummer, sent me a text saying the taping went great and they got to hang with Conan after the show. Hope to have some video to post on the site in the coming days. Very happy to have one of Indiana's finest getting this excellent exposure!
Over the weekend, local musician and friend to many Sean Copley passed away of a heart-attack. Also knows as "Pork Jesus" or "Sea Bass", Sean was the drummer for Gay Black Republican from 2005-2007 and has been a part of the Indy music scene for most of his life. Some other bands he… Continue

I am so damn pumped The Duke Spirit are coming here...
The Duke Spirit are an English rock band, with an affinity to the sound of early noise rock and grunge bands of the late '80s and early '90s such as My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth and the Pixies (a band The Duke Spirit has covered live) and also displays a primal take on Rock & Roll, blues and soul music, allying them to groups such as The Gun Club, Spiritualized, The Cramps & Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
I have liked the clash since I was 12. My son loves the self titled first album. Siouxsie is on my list of bands that I have not stopped listened too. She is my daughter's favorite. Both my kids like The Jam. Years down the road I will have to see if the straight edge, hardcore and oi bands I liked in 90s have aged well.
Bands that I never gave up on:
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Dead Can Dance
I thought some of you might enjoy this. It's really impressive. Check out how deep this site is. They handed these out on the streets of NYC today. Certainly more than a little wishful thinking but what a wonderful world this be if this was the actual newspaper and not a prank!
Muncie natives - Brazil, which over the years have released records on labels like Fearless Records & Immortal Records, will be coming back together after breaking up last year to celebrate the digital release of "Ere I Am, J.H." which is material what was written before the break up and put together by band members over this past year.
As well, Jonathon of Brazil will be performing songs from his new project called - Jonathon Christmas
The thread to my "Idolawyer" post started to get into some pretty interesting territory regarding digital sampling, creativity and copyright law (more interesting than what anyone had to say in the actual Idolator comments). This is a video that's been on You Tube for awhile, but I think a lot of people here will find it fascinating. The question on the thread regarding "funky drummer" made me think of…
Below is a link to my latest article on Idolator on fair use/transformative use doctrine applied to Girl Talk. I thought some folks here might find it interesting, or might at least want to make snarky comments.
Bring on the snark, Whybark, because I still can't figure out how to make my damn hyperlinks work here. Here's the old-school copy n' paste link:
Our host company, ironically named "Host I Can", has pulled, without warning, all MP3s off of our server. They gave us some lame excuses but it came down to them admitting "we say you can have as much space as you want but in reality you can't". Hence forth they shall be called "Host I Can't".
Anyway I'm pissed. They promise they will get us a back up of the site so we can reload it to another server. This could take a few weeks. I'm going to take the Archive off line until then… Continue
