If anybody knows more about the Indy band
MEAT FLAG, please let me know. Their
webpage seems to be down and I'd LOVE to get/hear even
more of their music than what's available on MFT—if it's available from someone, somewhere... Also: would simply like to know more about the band.

We have restored most of the
MFT MP3 Archive after a near death experience. Bottom line we had a horrible, awful server experience with a company called, ironically, Host I Can. They are very unsympathetic to our plight and have told us to basically get lost. Bummer.
Now, we are not without fault here. I should have been better in keeping active back ups for this project. We did have 90% of the site archived but had not backed…

Hey all-- Not sure how many of you have connections with the Good Earth Health Food store in BR. Just wanted to let folks know that the owner, Bob Landman, died quite suddenly on Saturday. I believe the verdict was that it was a heart attack.
I had my first 'real' job with the Good Earth, and worked there for several years. Bob also went to high school with my dad, so I had known him & his family for my whole life. He was an awesome human being-- known as 'SugarBob' to his friends, he…

A recent article on differences in opinion on books begins with a new Bloomington resident:
JOCELYN BOWIE was thrilled by the invitation to join a book group. She had just returned to her hometown, Bloomington, Ind., to take an administration job at Indiana University, and thought she had won a ticket to a top echelon. “I was hoping to network with all these women in upper-level jobs at I.U., then I found they were in the book group,” she said. “I thought, ‘Great! They’ll see how… Continue

The Holidays here in Indy always brings a batch of great shows. Sometimes they happen on the same night.
Instead of having an MFT Holiday party, which I toyed with, I thought it made more sense to list off some of our picks. There are so many, January will be a month of detox I'm afraid.
Thursday December 11th- N0RMAN OAK / UNO M0SS / UNRAVELERS / CHRiSTiAN TAYL0R / the PERENNiALS at the Melody Inn. I'm a big fan of both Norman Oak and Christian Taylor. They can both pull…

Show 166 featured the band, "

Breckinridge Agave Wheat,
Warbird Irish Shanty,

Wanted to share some exciting news!! As some of you already know, my boyfriend, Mike, proposed to me on my birthday last June and I accepted. We were planning on getting married 10/31/09, BUT we had another surprise just recently. I found out that I'm pregnant. Not sure if the baby is a boy or a girl yet... I added a picture from my first ultrasound. Check it out!!

I was bummed to see Pitchfork's review of Grampall Jookabox's album "Ropechain" that was posted this morning. Eventually, after ripping the album a new one, the reviewer (Indiana's own Eric Harvey) does concede "Yet despite its many faults, Ropechain is a hard record to hate". Indeed.
I was a little surprised at the review since I think it misses the point of the record. For those who don't know, the album was recorded over an intense week when Moose (Grampall) was being visited by…

2008 was an interesting year for me, although not one in which I kept up with much new stuff. Like most years in recent memory, I bought very little new music (maybe 5 new records), saw very few new films (3 or 4 in the theater), and didn’t go see any big concerts (except maybe the one listed below). This might make me pretty unqualified to write a best of list, but I’m going to do it anyway.
Best Concert
By far the most amazing concert going experience for me was…

I've gotta admit, this year hasn't exactly been a banner year for great music. Hell, the last 10yrs haven't been great either. In any case, I'll do my best to compile my personal honor roll for releases that caught my ear. In no specific order. Check it...
Powerpop:
Even - "Even"
The Orion Experience - "Heartbreaker"
Pugwash - "Eleven Modern Antiquities"
Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. - "Catnip Dynamite"
Sextus - "Stranger Than Fiction"
Sloan -…

Some of you may be aware of this project, some may not. As many of you know MFT buddy Pat Spurgeon (Steve Kowalski's Army, Stranded At The Drive In, Antenna, Rogue Wave, etc) was the subject of an Indie film recently. The film documents what life on the road was like for Pat while on dialysis for kidney failure. Pat has since found a donor and is doing well. This film, from the preview, looks to be really well done with lots of great Rogue Wave footage.
The film also features the…
