An interesting new band just added to the archive- Osis.

From their bio...

"Built and destroyed in one day- November 10th 2007- the Osis myth is based on a mere 8 tracks, 2 reels of tape, adding up to less than 40 minutes of mind blowing… Continue

Back to the Academy

Fry brothers return to their pre-Margot roots. "Not all music has to be danceable, or in a pop structure," Andy Fry says. "But it always seemed weird to me that people would deny themselves that pleasure." Read more here.

Indy Rocks? Could Indianapolis support an all music news publication?

INDY ROCKS MAGAZINE...

Myth #1: They predicted the DEATH of vinyl record albums!

Myth #2: They predicted the DEATH of the independent record store!

Myth #3: They predicted the DEATH of the rock band!

Myth #4: They predicted the DEATH of the rock club, that supports original music!

Myth #5: They predicted the DEATH of music related print media!

Indianapolis still possesses all of the above, with the exception of Myth # 5, which in my thirty year… Continue

Band of the Month - Amo Joy

It's been a big year for Indy's own psychadelic circus rockers, Amo Joy. They got a record deal, released their first album on vinyl and bumped up the amount of national tour dates considerably. Time for a tiny break before touring into the new year.

The name Amo Joy came from lead singer Adam Gross' mispronunciation of his own name as a child. The mispronunciation stuck and… Continue

Best Albums of the Decade

Just what will we call this soon to be passing decade? The "Os"? Like O-9? That's what I usually call it- "back in O-6...."

So with the decade closing out I wanted to send out a request for Best Albums of the Decade. I realize just trying to think of that might give you a headache, but just start by listing any that come to mind, it doesn't have to be a top ten list or anything like that. Here's some of mine and I will add some later.

as you may note, this list is… Continue

Firehouse Forum (your music here)

Hey rockers, crooners, wailers, strummers, drummers, what have you…

I’m the local music director for WFHB, in Bloomington. We are always looking for quality, current local music to play on our station. We have a local music show every Wednesday night. It is a two-hour block of programming that takes place from 9pm to 11pm and features music exclusively from Indiana musicians past and present. Within that program time there is a half hour devoted to live performances of featured… Continue

Austin Lucas - Southern Indiana Hills and House Shows

I’ve been to a lot of house shows over the last nine years that I’ve been in Bloomington. Sometimes these shows are incredible and fill me with hope for the future of local music in this town. Other times they make me wonder why I didn’t stay home and finish whatever movie Comedy Central is playing, e.g., Coming to America, and enjoy the musical flourishing of Sexual Chocolate instead of braving the rain. The Sunday after Thanksgiving, Austin Lucas, with the help of Mark Allen and Mike Hale… Continue
