Quick Review of the Everthus The Deadbeats show at Spin last night

great turnout, showed up around 9:30 and it was already a great crowd, what you might expect at 11pm. By the time the Deadbeats went on after midnight the house was packed, I'm not sure if it was officially sold out but it was close. They played a great set and the crowd was completely in sync through out the set. It was cool to see the younger and older crowd there, they are obviously starting to draw well outside their friends and Muncie fans.

The other bands were great as well,… Continue

Tonight I'll be sending pictures from the Everthus The Deadbeats show in real time

watch the home page, I tested this functionality earlier. Anyone who has a phone that can send pictures via email can do it. Just go to your settings and see what your email address for sending pictures is then start sending! They will go directly to the site and be added to the front page. Very cool stuff!

Ok, I'm off to the show!

Google Domain Registration

Google has launched several powerful applications on the path to being the dominant player in Web Marketing. Google Checkout, Google Analytics, and AdSense are now considered essential tools for Web Developers everywhere.

Add to that list Google Domain Registration.

Here's how it works:

You need a domain. We went out and got because we had always wanted to do something with it once we found it was available.

Now we have e-mail,… Continue

800 visitors yesterday on the site, stats from the first week if you are interested

We are off to a nice start with this fledgling week old community. We had a spike of 800 visitors yesterday due in part to someone adding us to their StumbleUpon account and an email we sent out to the MFT list. But in general we are seeing a nice steady increase in traffic. Thanks to all you early adopters for getting this bus rolling! Now let's try to figure out where it needs to go...…

Vulgar Boatmen Documentary

This just in from Fred Uhter, the filmmaker behind the upcoming Vulgar Boatmen documentary

The film has turned out very well. Richard Buckner, Alejandro Escovedo; Simon Toulson Clarke; J.D. Foster and Greg Kott are included in the documentary. The editor is Dan Christmas of Lakeeffect. He has 15 years of editing and art direction experience.

I would give the film about a month to finish then onto the sound editor. Does anyone know a good sound editor who works…

Thoughts on Traditional vs. Internet Radio and some other stuff

In thinking about the WITT station in the works I started thinking about radio in general and where it is headed. This is an excerpt from a post I made on IMN

...bottom line is that there isn't a single good radio station in Indy (well, if you don't count WFYI/NPR)

So anything is better than the same old crap being spewed by Q95, WTTS, etc. None of those stations are playing good new music with any regularity. None of them are "tastemakers". Radio used to be a driving force… Continue

I'm going to be reposting some of my MOKB content on here now and then I think...when it's related to the local scene. You can see Ryan Reidy tonight at Birdys, opening for Tulsa and The Whigs...

Ryan Reidy told me about his Sisters project quite a while ago, but like the a-hole I am, I forgot to check into them. MySpace is an ugly beast anymore to me. Anyway, lately, they've been… Continue

Is this the new Musical Family Tree?

That is the question. The answer is no.

We've been racking our brains trying to get MFT to the next level. Lots of philosophical discussions about what it should/could be and how best to support the community as a whole have been undertaken. One thing is for sure, we are not looking to sell out our community or drastically change the model.

We would like to open up some new options for bands and songwriters while keeping a key to the gates. This activity just takes up so… Continue
