Kenny Childers Tribute- nine kinds of gone

If you don't know who Kenny Childers is then you are probably not a regular around here, no problem, let me catch you up quickly.

Kenny is one of the best people, ever. If you know him then you know this to be true. Big hearted, incredibly talented and a friend to all. He has been in numerous bands, from Tangleweed to Velo Deluxe to Stranded At The Drive-In to Mysteries Of Life to Gentleman Caller to Brando... and that's just a few I could think of off the top of my head. He is also an incredible songwriter who has only gotten better year after year.

So Kenny turned 40 recently and his longtime buddy Chris Kupersmith stepped up and pulled together a compilation of covers by Kenny's friends- thanks Chris! The result is an amazing 22 song collection. I added my own cover of "Flaming Arrows" which I recorded into an iPhone headset while on vacation since that was the only time I could do it. But most of the tracks are really well produced and sound great which is impressive since everyone had about 2 weeks notice.

Check it out and then explore Kenny's originals: Kenny Childers, Gentleman CallerThe Prom and Stranded At The Drive-In

Awesome and amazing. After Katrina and the flooding of New Orleans in 2005 I begged Kenny to write a song, and he did, "Red Tide," which still gets me choked up every time I hear it. Wotta guy.
