NEW BAND OF THE WEEK! PRAYER BREAKFAST 6/16/09!!!!

These guys are good friends of mine. And they rock the house and had the best music release in my opinion of all of last year. I cant tell you how many times I have drove to see them live, or how many times their only release has been played on my ipod, a burned CD in my car and the 12" on my record player. Despite all my praise of them they are surprisingly humble about the whole thing. They are really just friends who like playing together. Most of them have full time jobs, have wives or soon to be wives. That makes them even more endearing. Ok, onto what they sound like:

To sum up their style I found this from bloomingpedia:

"Prayer Breakfast plays melodic, abrasive, and often pretty rock music which has been compared to that cranked out during the glory days of the American indie rock scene in the 1990s. "

I think this fits the description of their sound pretty well. Their first release "Small American" is a collection of songs that describe the joys of summer, girls, handstands, clover crowns, and early mornings without a beard. The music can be best described as a wall of guitar effected sound with wonderful drum beats and heartfelt vocals that just brings so much joy to the soul when heard. Best suggestion i can give you is to just listen to "Soon Enough" or any of their songs for that matter. You will get it I'm sure.

That is why its my pleasure to introduce this band into the MFT archive and community. I hope you enjoy it and check them out.

The new full-length should be done by the end of the summer. One of the members is in Japan until the end of July.

Here is our archive and bio page of the band.

Here is their myspace where you can contact them about getting a co...

Thanks and enjoy the music! Tell me what you think!

I'm all for MFT and the artists both making some money whether it's NP or not. I'm glad there is another way of getting us out there. If I would have sold an album in the 80s, I remember most little labels and artists would be happy to sell their t…

PJ- I thought of that too! I could use a new Ping hat. We aren't too far down the road of the NP thing to turn back. But John is right, if we can find a way to funnel money to artists then I'm all about having MFT make some of that transaction. It…

I tried to watch 100 Ways but I could feel my life force draining. Haven't the Japanese made some horror films about this video?
