Oh, now listen you - just stop it.
God forbid you and Dave ever stop in my town.
I'd have to put you guys up, buy all the beer, stay up all night telling stories, and make you my kids godparents, and my wife would probably have us all hauled away to the pokey.
I really wish I could have went to Lumpyfest. I was just too busy. I really loved him alot and sorely miss him already. Yukki flew in for the first one and I had the good fortune of having his company for 3 days. He got to know my 3 sons and they all loved him. I did not mean to take liberties with "Punkmobile", I put it on my compilation and made the little video..I thought it was a good fit..hope you got a chuckle out of it. As I am one who channels moronic entities from the third dimension, I am very compulsive and as a result tend to do things very spontaneously..(and without much forethought) Once you extended a cordial welcome to me to come to the Panics reunion, and, although I didn't make it, still look forward to it sometime if the offer still stands. I really don't mean to come off as being abrasive. It's a weird Germanic gene from antiquity and I am cursed with it LOL :)
P.S.
Who got the bulk of the Lumpy tapes?
Lumpy's cassettes!
Shit, man...There was one that I know he had a copy of called Lotus & The Flower Children that I wish I could get a hold of. I wonder if anyone grabbed that. It was the direct precursor to The Repellents, with Dave singing and Jakki on bass and me on drums. I've never been able to relocate my original tape, but I know Lumpy made a copy.
Think For Yourself was hastily recorded. As I remember it we had this riff that we'd only played a few times, I mean it wasn't even a "song" yet. When we were trying to decide what to record, Lumpy threw it out there, and I remember thinking that I didn't really want to do it, because we didn't even know it...So, Jakki started it up and we just fell in. We played it for a little over a minute (shakily) and then Lumpy nods and we just stopped playing. That was it. Done deal. I remember feeling very frustrated. I was completely out of my element. Paul already had the drums set up and miced, and was not experienced or mature enough to really take the time to adjust anything, so you can hear me hitting the mic on the snare drum a couple of times. It's a shame I didn't know any better at the time, because the drums sounded good and it's a nice, clean recording. When the original Master Tape came out, we'd already done a session with Mr. Science, and we (Repellents) were really happy with the results. I don't think Paul was so happy with the sound quality so we had to fight to get "Livin' Like and Animal" on there, because we liked those set of recordings better. Paul was using the set up where we did Think For Yourself, for some of the other bands and was happier with the sound quality he was getting there, I guess.
Sorry I didn't get your wall post until today. I didn't make it. I got like a 24 hour flu bug, and was deathly ill. I heard it was a good turn out. I'm gonna try to make the Bloomington memorial, when it happens.
John, errr uh sorry, for not getting back to you sooner, I didn't realize that I haven't checked my site out in over a year. Well, i guess that's what being debt will do to you. Anyway, I got together with Johnny Carson this summer in NYC (Brooklyn) where he lives with his wife and brand new daughter. He's still playing and really into music, especially stuff from the good ole' punk days. Here's his e-mail address, I'm positive, he'd be really glad to here from yyou CarsonJ@NOBLEPOWER.COM Cheers,. Jim S.
Hi JB.
Hey-I was wondering if you have, like, a "best of" or collection of Walking Ruins stuff available?
I'd really like to have some for the listening in the luxury of my own car or home to annoy friends and neighbors with.
J/k! I don't have any friends!
I'm all for MFT and the artists both making some money whether it's NP or not. I'm glad there is another way of getting us out there.
If I would have sold an album in the 80s, I remember most little labels and artists would be happy to sell their t…
PJ- I thought of that too! I could use a new Ping hat.
We aren't too far down the road of the NP thing to turn back. But John is right, if we can find a way to funnel money to artists then I'm all about having MFT make some of that transaction. It…

God..I love beer!! Let's do this thing
Haha...
We wouldn't LET you buy all the beer.
But, you know how it was...When you could hear a record and feel instant camaraderie.

Yeah, it's pretty loose!
It'd be hard not to, since we didn't even know the song when we went to record it!

You should have Dave on stage to sing it with you!
What a Punk Rock tag team that'd make!
R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A, indeed!
(Wish I could be there, for fuckssake)
I wanna do
I wanna be
I want it, baby
I wanna go
I wanna do
I wanna be
I want it now
I wanna go-go
I spell it G-O, baby
I wanna be-be
I spell it B-E, now
Well I was drivin' with my baby on a Saturday night
and something in the air doesn't feel so right
Can't you see what it's gonna do?
Can't you see what it's gonna be?
C'mon baby
Can't you see?
I said-a can't you see it now?
Can't you set me free?
Well there's a twisted wire inside your head.
In fifteen minutes you could be dead
That's what I said!
Can't you see what it's gonna do?
Can't you see what it's gonna be?
C'mon baby
Can't you see?
