Memorial for friends who have passed away

I think many have commented on those we've known and loved and who are no longer with us. Most of these type of comments are in various places here. So this could be a place to say a few words about them and how they affected and influenced our lives.

He had an older sister Beth, if I remember . . .

I tutored him after he got booted out of Harmony. He was having a rough time even then. I always used to try and bribe him by getting him Metallica and Guns and Roses stuff.

Ah, well . . .
Geez, I feel like we need a full-on death wall! You younger people: cut out all that unexpected dying and shit! Love, Mike.
Well I knew Justin passed, but Mike Jones and Adam? Wow makes me wonder how I've lasted so long!
Please tell me Mike Jones wasn't the big guy with the mohawk and denim vest who always wore long cut-off pants and combat boots and hung around People's Park in the early '90s.
I kicked Mike Jones out of Rockit's in '91 for buying weed off of one of my drivers-the driver, was forced out (Fired) too.
I remember someone saying he could vomit into a pitcher and then re-drink it. Ahh punk rock!
Yeah I had always heard Justin commited suicide(OD) over a girl, or at least that's what Lanny told me way back when. I didn't know about Adam, know any reason why specifically(if it was suicide) ? I liked Mike Jones he was really a nice guy.

Hey Jim what was the guys name in With Authority(Dave?) what ever happened to him?

Have I mentioned Brent Coffin ? Anyone know where he is?

Oh yeah there was a guy I hung around with who was from Fort Wayne I think, his name was "Vice" Always had a mohawk, supposedly he killed someone there and that's why he was "hiding" in Bloomington. He said it was an accident. He hit the guy with a board or pipe he picked up in an alley but didn't realize it had something sticking out from it (i.e. a nail etc.) It went into the guys brain and killed him. I don't know if that is true of course.
Dave Tate is on my space.
OK just couldn't remember his last name, thanks John.
I remember being at a party where Mike Jones did exactly this. Puked into a pitcher and then drank it. It still haunts me a little.
Who is this guy? What period are we talking about?
Although I hoped to never hear of Sean West's passing, I have to say that many people always feared this would happen. Anyone who knew Sean West through the years remembers two people. He had a very dark, troubled side that, quite frankly, was very scary and self destructive. Nonetheless, I will always choose to remember the side of Sean that made him so popular and carefree. He had great charisma and a huge heart that I loved.

Sean and I shared a house on 53rd and Winthrop back in 1988-1989. At that time he was clean and trying to put some pieces of his life together. I ended up heading to Bloomington, and Sean soon dropped back off the deep end…I will never forget the times I would sit on the front porch and watch and him, along with skateboarding legends such as Chris Cook, Bill Danforth, and Sergio Ventura skate the ramp in our front yard. We traveled all over to see great bands like Social Distortion, TSOL, and Agent Orange. One day we broke into the Officer’s Club pool at Fort Ben to skate the pool with some of the other Broad Ripple skaters. Eventually the MPs showed up, but luckily Sean’s smile and skating ability managed to keep us out of jail.

Maybe we were two young to see his shortcomings (I was only 18 to Sean’s 30), but he served as some sort of outlaw hero to us kids who grew up in Broad Ripple in the late 1980s. For me, it was a great time in my life that still shapes some of who I am today, and I have Sean to thank for much of it.

My thoughts are with the West family as his father, mother, and sister are wonderful people, although I have long lost touch with them. I truly hope they find/have found peace, and that Sean is hanging out in Heaven’s version of Del Mar, California and he is free of the disease he could never could beat. I will never forget him.
