Nah, it's cool. I just think my list would be more interesting if i just listed things i listened to a bunch in 2007. Maybe I'll make one of those too.

That's not off topic... just a different interpretation of Jeb's post. Besides, no one could possibly be upset after looking at Tex's handsome mug.

... and while we're on the topic of music 'discovered' in 2007, there was an artist I first listened to in '07, but his latest album was released in '06. None-the-less, Dan Reeder deserves a mention for his (04) 'After Death Update', and his (06) 'Sweetheart' albums. I was so happy when I stumbled across him... perhaps you will be too; if you haven't already.

I thought about making one of those lists too- what I listened to last year not just recent releases.
But I kept it to vinyl since it would be have been huge if I had included CDs and non-2007. There would have been lots more local stuff.

I didn't listen to too much new music - the new Akron/Family is really underrated though

some of my favorites were

A Place to Bury Strangers - s/t
Akron/Family - love is simple
adrian orange and her band - s/t
a tundra - man or woman, laughing or crying
beyonce - b'day (technically late '06)

yoshida tatsuya had another collaboration with a pianist and it's really good but i dont remember the name right off hand - i think it came out in 2007 not sure

What a great album. 'Mignonette' is another great one of theirs. I believe that was 2004.

I was going to provide a link and suggest that people take a look at a video of them playing on Conan O'Brien, but that video seems to have been removed from the site... great performance though.

Duran Duran? Seriously? Maybe I need to check that one out, I love their vintage stuff

I know. That and some of those last few albums on my lists are serious guilty pleasures - but that is what is so great about music. The Duran Duran is actually better than their previous "comeback" album. It still doesn't trump the first two albums but it's as good as the "Wedding Album." It splits the difference nicely between current pop and their better-known sound.
